Aussie Cricket Fan Group Slams Cricket Australia

Australian cricket fans have lashed out at Cricket Australia today over their decision to ban Mexican Waves at major cricketing events.

An irate fan, Matthew Newton, has launched SaveTheMexicanWave.com today in protest at the decision.

"Cricket Australia has been on the attack against cricketing fans all summer and this is just another example of their disconnection from the sporting public."

"Mexican Waves are one of the highlights of going to the cricket for many people but Cricket Australia has taken matters into its own hands to once again strangle the life out of the fun."

"Cricket Australia just want to fill their stadiums with plastic fans, wearing the official t-shirt, eating the official pie and drinking the official drink."

While there have been injuries during Mexican Waves, Newton says that Cricket Australia should have focussed their efforts on creating a safe environment rather than sucking the fun out of the game.

"Why not use video surveillance? Why not use extra security?" he stated.

"The people who are throwing dangerous objects are in the minority - noone wants them at the cricket. The fans don't, the police don't. We just need to encourage community policing - if everyone just keeps their eyes open we'll see the people who are hurting other fans."

"Cricket Australia seems to want Australian cricketing matches to be a cavern of silence. "If they keep on bringing in these ridiculous measures, they'll soon get their way."
